The 2019 Month-by-Month Book
The Month by Month Book is a 9 x 9” hardback book with space to write on each day. Keep your desk attractive and your life organized. With a full month in view and a ribbon marker, important dates won’t sneak up on you. At year’s end keep it on the library shelf as a remembrance. Each day has a space of 1 1/4 x 1 5/8″.
JANUARY: Snowflakes fall, icy on the tongue, magically covering the world in white, masking visual transgressions and muffling sounds, turning any landscape into a silent splendor made up of an infinite number of 6-sided miracles. Happy New Year, indeed!
FEBRUARY: What’s your type? Who wouldn’t LOVE to discover a smart, sweet Valentine surprise like this in one’s typewriter on the morning of February 14th?
MARCH: For beauty and stately serenity nothing can compare with Japanese Iris. Here is a first promise that winter is nearly gone and spring will surely follow.
APRIL: Can’t you just feel the pea-pod as it pops under pressure to reveal those perfect little green gems inside? Can you conjure the satisfying crunch as you savor this gift from your garden?
MAY: Time to get away in search of roots; and mine are here in sea side Sweden with happy people in houses of Falun red and mustard yellow under a bright blue sky.
JUNE: Everywhere you look in a Swedish summer, strawberries are planted in pots, crates and gardens, growing with unbelievable vigor in the nearly round-the-clock sunshine!
JULY: What could be more right than a 4th of July “cake” made from watermelon, whipped cream and blueberries?
AUGUST: A little bird on the watering can in my morning garden is such a welcome sight. Nothing big or showy, just an everyday delight!
SEPTEMBER: A misty day and shadow-play turn bikes and riders into April abstraction! Art is everywhere if only we pay attention!
OCTOBER: When you see a black cat riding a broom in the light of a full moon, there is a good chance there is Halloween mischief afoot.
NOVEMBER: Tis the season for making slow cooked soups and broths. I love gathering all the herbs and vegetables I can find and then simmer them with a rind of Parmesan. I also love the way the house smells when you make this!
DECEMBER: Scandinavian mittens knitted with equal parts love and skill will warm your hands as well as your heart. My mother does these quite well!
Happy New Year!
